That darn Adversary...

The Adversary definitely does not want Andrew on a mission. It's quickly learned that Andrew will ignore and blow off the doubts the adversary gives him. So what does the Adversary go and do? Yeah, he starts targeting me. This is redonkulous! This week I have been down and not myself for no reason! I got a good sized letter on Friday, with a pretty hefty studying and reading assignment. So life should have been amazing like it usually is. Or so I thought...

The Adversary knows how  much Andrew needs my support and love. So while I'm feeling sorry for myself, out of the blue I start telling myself that Andrew doesn't need me, he doesn't need my support, he doesn't want packages from me, I make him homesick etc. I didn't tell Andrew any of this of course, all I had said in my weekly letter was that I wanted to beat the Adversary with a baseball bat. But that was in a response to one of his letters when he told me about his roughest night in the MTC. (Thank goodness there was only one bad night...) So he had NO IDEA how I was feeling. Yesterday I got his weekly letter, and it said this...

"As far as the adversary goes, I freakin need your support! Your letters help me so much! And it gives me something to do! I have to have scriptures for you to read! And again, you don't make me homesick! I was so ready for the MTC and am pumped to get my flight plans next week! So keep writing!"

Andrew gave me the encouragement and words I needed to hear. All without him knowing I needed to hear them. Heavenly Father without a doubt has been helping us along this journey, He definitely does not want either of us to give up!

I am so grateful that Andrew was prepared and ready for the MTC. I hear girls talk about the struggles their missionary's are having in the MTC, and I realized that Andrew hasn't had any of those struggles. Even though he hated having to wait an entire year and then some after high school to go, it was a blessing in disguise! He learned what it was like to live away from home, and how to deal with roommates. He had some amazing teachers at BYUI that helped prepare him even more for his mission and most importantly he has AMAZING parents that prepared him his entire life to go and serve. I am so excited for him to get out into the field and teach families about the Gospel. It might be a little bit of a culture shock when he gets there...but I'm sure he'll be just fine the second he gives himself fully to the Lord.

I thank my Heavenly Father every night for giving me this AMAZING opportunity to support Andrew on his mission. It's not always easy having him gone, but like Andrew told me in one of his first letters "With sacrifice comes blessings, and the blessings will be greater than that you sacrificed".  Yeah, he's pretty much beyond amazing. :)

  1. I just heard this poem that I thought of when I read your post:

"Six days a week the Devil works
    works overtime on Sunday.
Then he is ready once again
to start to work on Monday.

So if all evil you would shun
    and keep your conscience level,
You must begin at early dawn
and work. Just like the Devil."
