Having a Plan B, Is Usually A Good Idea.

Remember how I signed up to do a Pageant?
We got 9 girls to do it, when The City required 8.
And how we agreed we'd be highly tempted to chew anyone out that decided to quit.
The City even put the Pageant into their budget.
Then The City got their actual budget money.
They were $35,000 short.
$35,000 Short!

How does a city underestimate their actual budget amount by that much?? That's a lot of money!!!
Who didn't take into consideration the bad housing economy? Have they not driven up on the hill and seen all the empty foreclosed homes? Or all the empty business buildings? Or those empty lots that no one wants to buy?

They told us if we met their requirements, which we did, we could have a pageant.
I understand that it was either the pageant, or someone's job. But The City does have some workers that like to slack off....a lot.
I just wish they would have held the pageant later in the summer, and waited to officially make a promise until AFTER they got their actual budget amount. Now I'm stuck with an evening gown that can't be returned, and a dress I had bought for talent. Since pictures are/were less than a week away, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one stuck in this boat.

The director is trying to find a way to get the pageant going without The City's sponsorship. She's been working at it for 2 days now... I'm hoping for a miracle and that we'll be able to do the pageant.

I was getting so excited to start working on my platform, and to promote it. I really felt like I could have won this, and be able to take my platform even farther. I was excited to spend my last year of waiting doing something I've wanted to do since I was a little girl.

Not only should The City have had a Plan B, but I should have had a Plan B.
