Home Singles Ward vs. the College Singles Ward.

I honestly can't decide if I like going to the singles ward.
I've been doing everything I know how to become "included". But so far, nothing is really working...
I was talking to one of my bestest friends ever, Miranda, about this. Miranda told me even though she's been in the ward for over a year now, she still doesn't feel a part of it.

This got me thinking. Why can one feel accepted and welcomed in a massive college singles ward? But not in a small home singles ward? After all, at home, you probably know a lot of people since you went to school with them. Everyone grew up in the same area, same schools, etc. They aren't strangers, so shouldn't you naturally feel welcomed?

At a college ward, everyone is living away from home. We're all on our own with no family, no friends, no common background. The only thing most of us have in common is school. Since we're on our own, we have to make friends. Pretty soon that ward becomes your family away from home. Activities are common, and always tons of fun to go to in college wards.

But at a home singles ward, no one is away from family, friends are still nearby, and we are not on our own. So if we already have friends why step out and make more? A lot of people have already graduated from college, moved on from that fun stage of life and living their careers. Then there's us, who's stuck in between post-high school stage, and midway through college stage. Most people in this ward have never ever moved away from home. Unless they went on a mission. It freaks me out how HUGE the maturity difference is between people my age that have moved away to school, and those that stayed home and went to the local university. Here, activities are kind of common, but usually aren't all that fun to go to since hardly anyone goes. Plus it's usually the creepers that go and well, creepers are just creepy and creep me out.

So in conclusion, I miss the College Singles Ward. I'm ready to go back to it! Can't it be January yet?

NOTE: I know not all home singles wards are like this. But mine is. Andrew's home singles ward was beyond awesome!
