As of late my beloved special needs students have been whipping out one-liners. Seriously, how these kids come up with these things is beyond me! But I love them for it, they always come out at the right time to brighten our day.
Me: K-dude, what are you supposed to be doing to earn i-pad?
K-dude: Shut up, Shut up, Shut UP!
Me: Hey now, that's not very nice to say.
K-dude: Damn it.... (said very remorsefully, and dramatically)
One day my little guy was going on a strike, refusing to do his work. So he was throwing everything possible at me. Well...on the animal matching, he threw one, and it landed in the right spot. IN THE RIGHT SPOT. What are the odds of that happening??? I of course couldn't hold back my in-shock laughter. Which made him laugh, then he thought I was laughing at him throwing things at me, which fueled his fire, which resulted at getting more things thrown at me. Curses.
H-girlie: I was singing in the rain!
Me: ooooooh, what song were you singing?
H-girlie: "I'm siiiiinging in the raiiin, just siiiinging in the rAAAAAiiin."
J-dude: Touch my armpit!
Miss L: Put your arm down bud!
J-dude: Touch my armpit....it's a trap!
J-dude later on....
"I can't work, I don't have a brain!"
(I was too busy laughing so I didn't hear his aide's response...)
Me: *pointing to a picture of an i-pad that my little guy chose to work for* what is this bud?
Little Guy: i wad!
Me: Since when did you learn that word????
Also with little guy, we've had to ban reward walks because of bad behavior.... so now he signs "walk" all. the. time. we started waving "Hi" every time he signs it. He now taught himself how to say walk.
How do I ignore something he says??? lol Guess I'll be making him use his words more!
K-dude: What president are you?
Me: Hmmm....Abraham Lincoln.
K-dude: That's my father! Guess what president I am!
Me: Hm....John F. Kennedy.
K-dude: That's Right!
Me thinking: "Now how does that one work...."
Yep, I definitely can't help but love these kids. I don't know if I'll be able to survive 3 months without them! They just bring too much joy into my life on their good days!
This is Nemo, our special needs butterfly. He has a deformed wing, and is still partially stuck in his cocoon, but very much alive! He's a fighter! I dubbed him our class mascot.
